The Grain
We select only full-grain vegetable-tanned shoulders. Any hide with artificial correction is rejected. We seek the scars and range marks that prove the animal's life.
Saddle Stitch
Two needles, one waxed linen thread. Every stitch is locked by hand. Unlike a machine lockstitch, if one loop breaks, the seam holds. Indestructible by design.
The Burnish
Edges are sanded, beveled, and burnished with beeswax and canvas until they are sealed glass-smooth. Finally, treated with our proprietary blend of neatsfoot oil and pine tar.
