Methodology

BLOOD, SWEAT & STEEL

"I do not build for the shelf. I build for the field, for the salt, for the heavy work. Aesthetic is merely the byproduct of perfect function."

Material Selection

Raw Steel

Everything starts with selecting the right steel (like high-carbon 80CRV2). I trace the blade's shape onto a raw flat bar and cut it out. Then, the profile undergoes initial grinding, and I drill the holes for the pins or screws that will secure the handle.

Hardening & Final Grinds

The profiled blade enters the heat treating oven for hardening, where the steel gains its ultimate toughness and mechanical properties. After the quench, I perform the final grinds to establish the blade's cutting geometry and intended purpose.

The Handle

Perfect Fit

I secure the natural wood scales to the tang. Once glued, I spend hours hand-sanding, rounding, and smoothing the wood with progressively finer grits until the handle fits your palm perfectly. Finally, I oil and wax the wood to protect it from the elements.

Honing & Details

The blade is precision honed to a razor edge. From the excess handle material, I often hand-carve matching accessories—like paracord beads or firesteel handles—so they form a cohesive, matching set with your tool.

Leatherwork

100% Hand-made Sheath

I cut a perfectly fitted template from a slab of full-grain leather. Then begins the handwork: edge beveling, hand-dyeing, and meticulous hand-stitching of the entire structure. The finished sheath is waxed and sealed for the elements.
